Yes, I understand what your saying, but you need to understand how the phone works. The Orange signal is 3g, the T mobile signal is 2g. So, the phone sees the 3g signal as stronger than 2 g and switches to Orange. If you keep the phone on GSM only it wont look for a 3g signal and will stay on the then stronger 2g T mobile signal. But, this falls over when you want 3g for data as I guess you don't have a wifi connection. The problem is Orange is crap in your area I'm afraid...

I might be slightly dim here....
But why when I set my phone to only WCDMA, are you saying it won't change to T-Mobile because it's only 2g?
According to this site http://recombu.com/news/t-mobile-and...te_M17792.html and others, the Orange/T-Mobile 3g sharing is completed.
    I've just tried WCDMA on Orange/T-Mobile and I get a H+ which is a 3g signal and 4 bars
Orange on its own gives me H+ but only 1 bar
Orange GSM gives me G and 3 bars
    Orange/T-Mobile gives me G and 4 bars.

So in both 2g and 3g the strongest signal is Orange/T-Mobile, but it keeps defaulting to Orange only.

Have you tried asking Orange to see if the combined network requires you to modify your APN settings in any way?
May be worth looking on their support site.

Anyway that I can get it to restart on the network I want and not automatically coz it keeps going back to just Orange.
    Thanks
I also have very poor Orange signal in my house, however I use the signal boost which uses my wifi signal to improve coverage. I know this doesn't solve your specific problem but assuming you have wifi give it a try.

T Mobile signal will only kick in automatically if you loose the Orange signal completely as Orange is your "Official" provider. As greenman suggested, try adding and selecting default on T Mobile APN's. It might force the phone to search for T mobile by default.....

Having been onto Orange this afternoon I can comfirm your statement is correct, they also said APN is only associated with mobile internet so will not make any difference as to my problem.
Unfortunately it looks like I'll have to live with it for now
