Changing the position of the "Home Pages "

    Hi

I have just got my first smart phone a Galaxy S2 ( it is on contract from Orange).

There are , what I would call 5 home pages that I can scroll too, but what I would like to know is how can I change the order of these pages around ????

Home page 1 is now full of various things

    Home page 2 is empty

Home page 3 is full of apps I have down loaded

Home page 4 has got 2 apps on there

    Home page 5 is empty.

How can I make my page 3 above , swap postions with page 2 ???

I hope you can follow what I mean.

    Many thanks

    Jimmymerlin

On most versions (pre ICS at least) if you pinch the homescreen you will see an overview of all your home pages. From the overview you can add, delete or swap home pages by long pressing the required homescreen and moving it.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply. On my model, I cannot pinch the homescreens. However if I want to see an overview of the 5 homescreens, if I press the home key quickly, it takes me to a screen that shows all 5 screens on it, but it will not allow me to move those screens around. Any further ideasa ???
    Many thanks

Hey Jiimmymerlin, I just checked a friends SGS2 as I do not have one and the pinch action does work on the homescreen.

I also managed to long press the required homescreen tile and move it to a different place. You need to hold your finger down on the required tile for a few seconds.

The phone I tried it on is a UK SGS2 bought on the Orange Network too.

Unless I am doing something wrong, I cannot pinch any of my 5 home screens. However, when trying to pich the homescreen after a few seconds another screen opens up saying "Add to Homescreen"

As mentioned above, when I press the home key quickly I get a screen that shows all odf my 5 screens but if I keep my finger pressed on any of them all that happens is the screen turns orange and when I take my finger off, it takes me to the screen I was pressing.

It does not allow me to move the screens around !!!!

You've obviously got the gentle touch of Frank Bruno. LOL
After 'pinching' and getting the home screens, you have to touch one and slide it into another position.

There are so many different firmwares for regions models etc, if you the above steps do not work then it's highly likely that you cannot change your homescreens around.

Your next alternative would be to either download a Homescreen Launcher which allows you to do what you need...

    or

Try and update your software either using the Samsung Kies (Official) or Odin (Manually done).

    Thanks Tufftoad.

I think I will try downloading a homescreen launcher as you suggested.

As I am brand new to smart phones I do not know what you mean by Samsung Kies or Odin , so best stick to the launcher option !!!

Once again thanks for you help

Samsung Kies is the official software used to sync data between your Samsung Galaxy and a PC. You can google Samsung Kies and download from the Samsung Website. When/If your phone connects to Samsung Kies you will be notified of any upgrades to your phone's software.

It's handy to have Samsung Kies as it installs the USB drivers on your PC.
