Phone is not rebooting - Please help

    Hi,

I went to settings and then About Phone. Subsequently, I checked for updates and after that I tried updating my phone. The file size was around 12 MB after which it proceeded with rebooting the phone.

Unfortunately my phone is not getting rebooted after the software update. It is stuck with the screen showing "Samsun Galaxy S2 GT-19100G". The welcome note with the music screen is also not appearing.

    Please help.

You've missed out the important parts.
Which firmware did you update to and how did you do it?

I have got no idea. All i know is I did a similar update recently and it worked fine. I missed out on remembering which firmware the phone was getting updated too. How to get it working now?

Ok, did you use Kies to update or some other software, like Odin?
I would guess your firmware has been corrupted, so doing a Factory Reset is unlikely to help.
You are therefore looking at refreshing your firmware.
Can you get the phone into download mode.
Press and hold Volume down +Home button + Power Button until you get the yellow warning triangle.
Accept by pressing volume up to get to green android screen.

If you can do that, you may be able to flash new firmware using Odin if you have a computer and USB lead to attach your phone.

What I did was the following:

    1) I went to settings->About Phone-> Check for Update -> It then downloaded a file of 12MB. I did it using WIFI.
    2) Then it tried to reboot and that's where it is stuck now.

Yes, I have a USB and a computer with me. Could you please tell me the steps to do it? DO i need to download the firmware version file from somewhere? Some .tar file or something?

You need to be able to get in download mode.
Then go to sammobile. com to find the correct firmware for your phone.
You will search by model and geographical location.
Then you need to install Odin on your computer.
I'll give you a link to a video for installing ICS, but you will use the sammobile file and not the one in the video.

Sorry. Not on my computer so had to search for links.
Take a look here; This Cnet video is as clear as it gets, but use your own ICS file from sammobile.

I am finding it difficult to obtain the firmware. I am from India and my model number is I9100G. Help needed. I went to Checker tab and tried searching with the two credentials.
