    Updating my new Samsung Galaxy2

Hi, it worked saying hi first, so here's my problem

I got my Galaxy S2 on Saturday and I have several new updates to install, however i am a bit of a novice when it comes to computers and mobile phones.

Could you please tell me if it is safe to install the updates, I installed one, adobe flash player manager and I haven't a clue what to choose when it comes to choosing the settings. Could you please tell me a, if I should install the updates and what to choose when it comes to choosing the preferences with flash player, I want the safest option, whilst still allowing my phone to work to the best of it's ability.

    Please can anyone help me.

Installing Flash Player is fine and wiil allow you to view things like the BBC iPlayer.
But if you're not sure go to your applications and select Play Store.
Search for Flash Player and read what it says, including Permissions and reviews.
You can also do this on your computer - oh and by the way, you can install apps on your phone via your computer and the Google Play Store.

Leave preference as default for the time being.

Hi thanks for helping me, when I installed the flash player update that was in my samsung updates, I got a new icon in my applications called flash player settings, when I click on it I get two options. Local Storage... and peer-Assisted Networking... I clicked Local Storage and was given 3 options... ALWAYS......ONLY FROM THE SITE I VISIT or NEVER ..............
At the moment I selected NEVER as I really did not have a clue what I was doing to be honest with you.......Which one would have been the default ???

And is it safe for me to update the other things from Samsung, I think there are 7 in all ??? Sorry to seem thick but I am really thick when it comes to things like this and having a smartphone is a whole new experience especially one with so much power.

Do you know, I hadn't even looked at that. Now I have, I would select local storage and 'always'. Adobe is safe to use.
If you have not added any apps yourself then updating existing firmware is safe.
When you come to choosing your own apps from the Play Store, read two things - the user comments, but don't just go by a few good ones, read the bad ones too. And secondly read the permissions, and if you think 'why that' then think again about installing.
Saying that I have installed lots of applications without a problem.
Enjoy your S2 and this forum.

    You're welcome.
Be cautious but don't let it spoil your fun with the S2.
It's a great phone and a year on I still enjoy using it - and have never had a problem with any apps downloaded from the Market (Play Store)
If you want a layer of security take a look at Webroot security and antivirus, and then REEEELAAAAAX.

Hope to see you on here again soon.
