Galaxy s2 periodicaly notification tone

Hi peeps please help im pulling my hair out.My samsung galaxy s2 every now and again plays the GOOD NEWS notification tone but i have no visual notification and i also know i have NOT selected it for anything ie mail,ebay etc? I just cant find out what is causing it to sound? Is it apps updates ? please help Thanx....

You do not necessarily get a visual notification unless you have selected it, so you can receive an email or text and just have the notification sound.
Check in your SMS and email settings.

If that isn't the problem then try changing the notification sound for sms and email and have a different notification in sounds (or even silent)

Thanx for that i do have a diff one for sms,mail,ebay and facebook no where is that notification tone selected ive looked everywhere confused !!!!ps. i presume sms is text ?

Factory reset should clear whatever is causing he problem.

Cheers greenman but im presuming ALL the custom set up i have done will be lost ? addresses,contacts,pictures etc ? ie it will be as from shop ?

If you're on ICS go to Settings > backup and restore and select.
After factory reset go back to settings and Restore.
Factory reset does not touch the picture file, but contacts can be lost if stored on phone - as opposed to synced with your Google or other account, or on sim card, in which case they will still be there.
Your sd card is not touched (anyway, you can remove it)
The Google backup and restore will return your phone with apps as it is now -but always think the worst and backup via Kies or an app or to your sd card anything you could not bare to lose.
