    Sgs2 keeps switching itself off, 2-3 times per day??

    Hi, it seems to happen since upgrade to ICS........
    Takes ages to get it to restart, (time finger spent on power button)
    Any ideas?
    ICS has so far, been more trouble than its worth..

    I've no problem with ICS. Very stable and good battery life. The more I play with it the more good things I find
    Anyway, did you follow my guide regarding factory reset procedure etc. Some apps will also need updating for ICS so its best to take then off and start over. Remember ICS is written completely differently to GB so it is not compatible. Anything left over from GB (system files, apps etc) will cause conflicts.

    Hi Rich, and anyone else reading this thread, and anyone with the same problem!

    I did factory reset before putting ICS on, I also cleared cache, before putting it on. Once succesfully putting ICS on, I then did 2 factory resets, and another cache clear..... When it switches off, there is no warning, it's only when I next go to it I find that its off!

    Dont know what else to do, except delete all added apps, then do another factory reset/cache clean, run it like that for a few days, then add back my apps 1 by 1, but run phone for a day or two after each app added to see if I can pinpoint if its a rogue app causing it? Or is there a quicker way than this?

    Chehers;

    Agree with Rich, am still finding stuff out and sorting problems out too, although I did not factory reset either before or after. Just updated through Kies and havent had much go wrong. Battery life is improving day by day so all good.

    I can only assume it is an app that is causing you problems. Go to your apps list in settings and click on the downloaded tab. You can go into each app you've downloaded and disable them (no need to delete for now). Then reboot phone. See if it still reboots by itself and if OK go back and enable each app one by one until you get the problem. Are you rooted? If so, you can back up everything first with Titanium back up so any game settings / levels etc can be restored also. Some power saving apps are reported to cause issues but without knowing what apps you have installed I can't advise anymore..... Good luck and hope you find the culprit soon.

    Hi, not rooted, but these are the apps I have recently downloaded that are under suspicion!

    Cosmos - Battery Saving App
    Easy battery Saver - Battery Saving App
    ES File Explorer - File Explorer
    My data Manager - Logs Data Usage

    Thats really it apart from a couple of weather apps..

    What do you reckon? Cosmos possibly the bag guy?

    Cheers;

    The only one of those I have is ES File explorer. No reboots for me so assume that is OK. I would disable the battery apps at least and see how it goes.

    Same here. In addition, afer each of these shutdowns, battery drops by 5-10%.

    The graph suggests that the shut down is associated with an increase in temperature and greater battery use and eventual shutdown due to overheating.
    What you have to find out is why the S2 is overheating.
    Look at which apps are running at the time.

    In Speedways case I would guess there's a conflict between his battery apps and data services.
    Asking the S2 to save battery by cutting down services such as wifi and GPS while data apps are trying to access these same services is a bit like accelerating with the brakes on - result is overheating and shut down.

    Thanks for the suggestion, but I'm afraid that that is not the case.
    It almost never turns off after it has been used for a while, etc. I just sometimes unlock the phone, read a twitter reply or an email, lock it back and 5 minutes later its off.
    Sometimes it switches off while in my pocket, sometimes - while laying on table. No clear pattern...
