Do you both have exactly the same router. Also you could just go though and try each security setting until you find one that works.

I am trying to connect via wifi and have rentered router code several timed and have tried other routers but it just says obtaining address for a while then fails!! any help would be greatly appreciated.
Check your router's wifi security policy. I had issues on WPA2-PSK, but after changing security policies, it never dropped again. Doesn't matter which encryption you are on, your policies are probably not configured correctly.
Is your router using DHCP or STATIC ip?
Can you turn the security off to see if it will connect

I am having the same problem as Smithnick, but only with my home wifi...
I downloaded wififixer to see if it would help. It didn't. So I instantly deleted it. When I did that my wifi went weird. If I turn it on it says 'unable to scan networks' and then turns itself off. Anyone know how to fix either problem?
Thanks
Hi Guys,
I've been banging my head against my wifi issues over the last few weeks and I've learnt a lot.
There seems to be a nasty bug relating to interoperability between the wifi WMM/WME feature on the phone and some access points. In particular I noticed this with my airport express access points at home. After a couple of minutes (sometimes less) my connectivity would drop out despite signal strength. Also, this seems to effect DHCP as I often didn't receive a default route and had to configured everything statically.
At work, we have a Cisco WLAN controller, I've noticed that if WMM is enabled on the SSID, my phone experiences the above symptoms, if I disable WMM it works sweet.
At home, I installed an old Cisco aironet which is likely to be too old to support WMM, again it works fine with my phone.
My suggestion is to have a look at your access point and disable WMM if you can. Either that, or try different access points.
I've recently upgraded my phone to JM1 and it seems that this bug has been fixed, so you can try that as well.
I hope some of this helps as I know how frustrating this can be![]()
