i used to have this issue and mine was fixed by removing my wifi security it was was on wpa2 and i couldnt be bothered to try out each individual security protocol to see what worked best, but with no security it fixed mine - simples.

I've been using wifi daily at work and home from day 1 and never have disconnect problems. I did get problem when the screen goes off and wifi cannot reconnect until I reboot phone when I first got my phone, but that was fixed by simply switch the wifi policy on and off. This only happen on the stock firmware (can't remember the firmware version as I flashed my phone so many time) but it never happens again since I flashed my first firmware JG1. I hope this helps.

PS. I use WPA2 both at work and home.

I have the same problem to....Phoned Samsung today who agreed it should not happen BUT there is an update available which could solve the problem. When I asked how I update using my Macbook it was " errr don't think you can, BUT we are aware of this problem and we should have something available within the next two weeks " (God I hope its not a Mac version of Kies). Anyway will wait and see as I of course will want to update to 2.2 when it arrives !

Have you tried looking at this (my apologies if you have already):

Menu (bottom left of the phone)
    Settings
    Wireless and network
    Wi-fi settings
    Click the Menu button again
    Advanced
    Wi-Fi sleep policy

Mine is set to "When screen turns off" and I quite often find that it does not find the network again when it resumes from sleep mode - I have to go into the wi-fi settings and manually re-connect it. You could try setting yours to "never" (if not already) - not sure how much battery that will consume though.

My sleep policy is set to always on, and mine disconnects all the time. It won't disconnect when I'm using it, but if I leave the phone lying around, when I pick it up again I find that the WiFi is disconnected..
I'm still not sure if it's the phone's problem or my router's, as I don't have another device to test

Have you tried it with a different router or wifi location, As some just don't want to play nice. I had to get my parents a new router because their iphone didn't want to work with it and their Android phone had trouble too, so I took it back and been using it with no problems

    Just a thought....
Although as mentioned in my earlier moan about this wifi problem that my connection is lost after some time of inactivity, having stayed at my daughters place over night the wifi connection is still connected....deep joy !
Anyway the only difference between her internet security set up and mine is :
    Hers...........WPA
    Mine...........WAP
Could this possibly be the missing link !
Now back to the phone lines to see what our other listeners have to say........
