Hi, I downloaded The Sims 3 for my SGS last night, installed it this morning though all I get is the EA logo for about 10 seconds then it crashes out without an error code.

You would be better speaking to EA Games since this game works on so many devices.
If the game doesn't work then it could be likely that you have the wrong version (GooglePlay shouldn't be offering you the wrong installation tho...hmmm).
Being completely honest, it was from a torrent I downloaded it. There were 3 versions, one specifically for the SGS.

I have also downloaded and tried this out but had no problems. As with most games nowadays there will be a data pack which you have to downlaod after installing.
If you are trying to download the data pack using your data connection (not wifi) then the game may halt/freeze until a wifi signal is present.
You may need to get an earlier version.
Can I ask where you downloaded it from?
I wonder if I maybe just need to uninstall it and try again
Tried downloading another Sims 3 app but it also doesn't work.

I don't really want to start offering advice on pirated software as this is not what the website is about.
You could try uninstalling and installing again. If you get the same error come up then you need another installation file.

I think I'm getting somewhere now, it has started to download data for the game, so here's hoping it works!
You got it, should work aftwerwards. I take it the problem was downloading the packet on a data connection and not on Wifi.
