Email hanging when clicking on "Load more details"

    Hi there

When I receive large emails it requests you to click on the "Load more details" button. When I do this, it simply says "Downloading" but never manages to actually download the rest of the content. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

I can work around by increasing the default download limit up to 100K but that's not the point. Why isn't it working as it should?

    I'm using Ice Cream Sandwhich.

    Richard

Is the problem on wifi and mobile data?
Did you have the same problem on gingerbread? If not did you wipe data and cache when converting from GINGERBREAD to ICS?

It seems to happen both on wifi and mobile data. I'm pretty sure I did wip the cache but I think I did that after the convert once I started having problems.

I have a related post regarding digital signatures as well. It seems that my email has "issues" working under ICS.

I don't remember experiencing problems under Gingerbread, but I didn't leave it on GB for long; I quite quickly did the upgrade as I didn't want to do too much configuring of the phone only to have to have to change it again.

You've answered your own question surely "I can work around by increasing the default download limit up to 100K" ?
100k is very low. If your email is 150K you will only receive the first 100K's worth of data. The limit is there to save on data useage for people on a limited data plan so it is working correctly......?

Thanks for the reply. As I said in my original post, increasing the limit to 100K removes the problem for most emails, and as you say I don't really have a reason for restricting the size of downloads. However, I stumbled on this problem because the original default was a 2K download limit. Clicking the "Load more detail" should work but doesn't. Work arounds are fine, but it still bugs me that what should work doesn't.

To be honest I've never seen this message come up. I have my download set to something like 3mb I think. Are you using stock email widget or have you tried K9 mail from the Play store ? Who is your email with. Do you connect directly to their server or is it via an aliasing service or exchange service etc..... So many possible variables it's difficult to say why things happen....

I'm using the stock email client connecting to Exchange using the Microsoft ActiveSync set up. I havn't tried K9 but I did try Enhanced Email and that worked without any problems at all. Probably not worth spending too much effort on this, perhaps some future updates will make the problem go away.

I fully confirm and have the same probs as Richard :-(
It's not on all mails, but sporadically (feels like 1 out of let's say 8) that I can not load more details and the mail keeps truncated. This is very annoying and keeps me off from using it for my business. So Samsung forces my to keep on using my Blackberry...

There are so many mail clients on play that would most likely work for you (see above posts), I can't see why you feel "forced" to use Blackberry (nothing wrong with Blackberry and especially good at what they do). The whole point of Android is that you can remove the stock mail app (in this instance) and install a different one that suits you - that's why we use this OS
