Maybe network issues unless you've been changing settings or installing any apps ?

Your phone is having an identity crisis. LOL
Seriously, if not the network, turn off phone.
    Now remove battery.
Leave for 10 minutes replace and reboot.
This will re-establish your network link.

I am having the same problem with my Galaxy S. When traveling within a WiFi area, the phone can't seem to figure out whether to use 4G or WiFi. So, it does nothing. Anyone trying to call me is diverted directly to voice mail. When I attempt to call someone, it give me a "call ended" message, then disconnects without dialing the number. The only fix is powering off the phone every time to change WiFi coverage areas. What a pain. I've heard this has been a problem for many, many months but Samsung has no desire to address the issue.

If you have an SGS 1 then you won't have much support from Samsung anyway, the Galaxy S1 is no longer their flagship device.

Another release of 2.3.6 will due later in the year.
