    Lost Icons

    Samsung GT-I9000
    Firmware 2.3.3
    Gingerbread.XWJVH

Three of the four permanent icons at the bottom of my screen (Phone, Contacts & Messaging) have suddenly disappeared leaving only Applications/Home one which has reset to the middle.

I’ve tried restarting the phone and also dragging the icons from the apps screen into them but this didn’t work. Is this a software problem or have I done something wrong?

Sounds like you need to do a factory reset.

Or before that, try turning it off, removing the battery and leaving for 10 minutes before putting the battery back in and turning it on. That can cure a manner of ills.

Can I confirm you're using the stock TouchWiz launcher, in the app drawer you've selected menu > edit and then dragged the appropriate apps from the app drawer to the dock?
I could be wrong, I usually am. (Because it's only a phone)

I did after I posted this.....and it worked OK!

I'm just left wondering what caused it in the first place. Never mind, it's working fine now. Thanks for your help everyone.

So now you have TouchWiz sorted, ditch it for GO Launcher EX...

I'd also recommend using Go Launcher. Far better than TouchWiz and you can change back or switch between launchers very easily.

Allows you to have a dock that scrolls so you can have upto 15 icons of your choice.

Best thing is you can get phone to look just way you want and in latest version really runs very smooth.

Allows creation of folders in the app screen as well. Lots of free themes, widgets and lockscreens.

Bit of a no brainer really. There are other launchers as well but Go is my prefered option.
