You are trying to use the stock "Samsung" email app which is rubbish. Your HTC stock app would be different, hence the difference in performance. If you want a do all email account download K9 email off Play.

If you think k9 is better for exchange than pretty much any other app out there that works with exchange you're poorly mistaken. K9 simply does not work as an exchange client for exchange 2010 (I also believe this to be true for exchange 2007 as well). K9 only supports WebDav and not EAS so there is only exchange support for exchange servers that are almost 10 years old. Yes, one could use IMAP or POP, but neither of those sync calendars or contacts.
For referene, there have been people like myself waiting over a year for this feature http://code.google.com/p/k9mail/issues/detail?id=750
K9 is simply not an option and should not be recommended for use with exchange.
There is nothing wrong with the Samsung email app and how it works with exchange. It is best practice to use domain\username as the login name but this is not how google implements it (they expect username@domain.com) so it is really a google issue. Samsung could however remedy the issue by not forcing the precursing \ before the username.
This is a "problems or concerns" thread, and this is a problem/concern for anyone that expects to or has issues with using the stock mail app with google apps instead of the gmail app.

Honestly that is way over my head but, I do use the stock email app with a google account and it works fine, if you set it up manually. I'm probably missing your point completely, for which I appologise as I have never had the need to study in depth different email setings/options/apps etc.

Like RichH I upgraded my Samsung GS2 from gingerbread and both my Gmail and my personal email accounts both work fine. What I have seen happen recently is that some messages I receive are duplicated and when I ask the sender if they sent them twice they replied No.
The stock app works great, but only for imap/pop and not for use as an exchange client with google apps. Its exchange implmentation works with normal exchange servers, just not with google's iteration of activesync unfortunately. In gingerbread it works perfectly fine, and as mentioned other phones do not suffer from this same problem. It is quite unfortunate.
Dear GSG II Users,
I have just upgrade my SGS II to ICS 4.0.3, after upgraded I used it for a while, then the battery status bar is disappeared. from the screen on top of the screen. here is the solution for you to solve it.
In 4.0.3 ICS, there is a restart function, when you slightly press the switch off button, then the restart function key is there, just restart you smart phone, then it will come back to your screen as usual.
Good Luck.
Sorry if this has been already asked, but short of time and not read all post...
Updated Galaxy S to ICS...all went well.
Backed up my contacts using Kies prior to update.
Kies no longer connects to Galaxy.
How can I get contacts file from laptop to Galaxy now???
Export using what? Kies?
Kies doesn't seem to have export option...
