How to set emails so they stay on server

    Hi,
Can anyone tell me how I go about setting up my email account on the Samsung Galaxy so that any emails I receive on my mobile stay on my isp server so that I can get them on my laptop etc as well. I am with Plusnet.

Hi. When you add the account to your phone try using IMAP instead of POP. this should leave the messages on the server.

I'm interested in the answer to this post as I am having the same problems experienced by funklady61, have set my email accounts to IMAP on the Galaxy but still find that emails deleted on the phone will not appear on my laptop when opened

When I set up my Pop3 accounts there was an option which asked whether I wanted to delete emails from my server when I deleted them from the inbox. It should be NO if you want to download them onto other machines I believe. I can't find any way of accessing that option via Email/Menu/Settings and selecting the email account.

IMAP will always replicate what you have on your pc to your phone and vice versa. If you delete from pc it will go off phone and if you delete from phone it will delete from pc. POP should give you the option to leave a copy on server or delete from server. If you want greater flexibility use an app such as K9mail rather than the stock phone app.
