We need a safe to remove apps list for ICS

Ok, I did search but can't find this anywhere, I know Briggs did a great safe to remove apps list for the s2 but that was for GB I believe.

Now that ICS is starting to roll out (Cept for us poor XEU owners), I wonder if somebody will be doing a new safe to remove apps list specifically for ICS?

I did use the list that Briggs did for gb but it caused so many problems with my phone that I had to reinstall the firmware. Lol. Not Briggs's fault, mine for not making sure it was workable with ics.

So, anyone care to create a new list as I'm sure I'm not the only one who could use it :-). Or is it too soon for people to know what's safe and what isn't?

This is obviously subject to a huge "Your mileage may vary!" warning, but I have removed almost all of the same apps I had on GB and not had any problems with ICS. To reproduce the newly edited list

Accuweather.com (two versions of this beginning 12.01) (stock weather widget)
    AP Mobile (stock news widget)
Email 4.0 (Stock samsung email, my gmail still works fine without these)
    Game Hub 1.1.4
    IM 1.00.10201
    Kobo 2.7.753
    Music Hub 12.03.02.06
    Readers Hub 12.01.27.1
    Samsung Account 1.2.024
Samsung Apps 2.6.194 (Samsungs app store, the apps I'd downloaded, the dictionaries from the Samsung app store, still work fine.)
SamsungAppsUNA 2 2.0.33 (something to do with samsung apps)
    SNS Disclaimer 1.0
SNSAccountFb, SNSAccountLi, SNSAccountMs, SNSAccountTw (The built in social networking feeds, solo app from Android Market/Google play work fine without them)
    SocialHub 2.00.00001 and SocialHub 1.0
Software Update 1.0 and Softwareupdate v3_1201_3_1 (Only used to update over the air, connecting to kies still seems to work fine, although there haven't been any updates so far)
WifiSharing 1.0 and WifiSharingManager 1.0 (Not actually sure what they are, but wifi works fine without them)
Yahoo Finance 12.02.23.01 (stock stocks widget)
    Zinio 1.21.4860
AdService 1.0.3.04 (Samsung apps installed this)
Samsung Push Service 1.0.3 (Samsung apps also installed this)
I did try to get rid of the Samsung IME to stop the annoying keyboard icon in the status bar every time I type... despite having swiftkeyX installed, it completely messed up text entry, so I would caution against removing it.

You could always let someone else do it for you.
Wanam is one of the better ROM manipulators and creates his 'lite' firmware from a standard ROM.

Thanks to both of you. Will get freezing later and will also have a look at that site as well greenman.

I'm getting appalling battery life at the moment and I know freezing or removing some of the apps can help quite a bit.

    Thanks again.

Poor battery is a feature of ICS at the moment.
If you can't live with it, but can't give up ICs try an extended battery.
Got mine this week and made a massive difference and only £16.42

I have a spare battery anyway and wasn't getting poor service until I switched from LPQ to LPS. It wasn't good but it was bearable.

Ok, have frozen all of them, couldn't find Samsung push service or adservice though in my list. Will see how I get on now. Thanks again. :-)

Lol, worst case scenario, reflash rom with Odin. Well, no, worst case scenario would be complete brick but that's not really likely from just freezing apps. :-)

I'd rather freeze apps myself than use a lighter rom... This way I know what I've removed and if I find a feature I want to use doesn't work I can just re-enable it. Plus Wanamlite is deodexed and those roms tend to come with more problems anyway, browser not working was a common thing on the original galaxy s. So I think there is a place for both lighter roms and a list of apps that it's safe to uninstall/freeze.

Hope it works well for you Alison, not had any problems here, although I didn't run ICS with them so no idea battery life wise! I think the ad and push service are only installed if you use Samsung apps so maybe if you haven't then that's why they weren't on your system?
