ICS upgrade and backwards compatibility - be warned

My S2 'upgraded' to ICS via Kies. However it is a new Android program as many of the apps (not wierd stuff, mostly from the big organisations) do not now work. This is no good to me but there is no official method via Kies or anything Samsung provides to roll back this so-called upgrade. My phone provider is now replacing the phone. Be warned

Thanks, but it sounds like Samsung should be the ones reimbursing you!

Not quite sure what you are saying here. Are you saying that ICS is so new that most of the apps on the market don't work?

I haven't had any problems with apps not working. Maybe one or two that haven't been updated to work with ICS but that's normal when any firmware update comes out, takes time for developers to do the necessary work.

I don't understand why the phone would need replacing, perhaps I've misunderstood the whole post.

Ditto, not one application out of 90 has issues with ics.

And you can reverse it by using Odin.

    Hi,

I have the same kind of problem, I had android version 2.3.5 and it updated via phone updates to version 4.0.3 There is a lot of problems on this version, I can't even brows the internet with the phone it takes up to 20 to 40 taps on the link to get it to open the link, my message notification doesn't play when receiving messages, I hope there will be a new update soon to rectify this problem or is there a way to change it back.

    Thanks all

Had the phone do an auto update and now it will not turn on. Not sure if it was ICS or what version it was updating to. It is an unlocked phone given to me as a gift (phone was bought on Amazon)

I tried the factory reset but the phone is unresponsive. I had a full battery during the update, just to be sure the battery is not dead I attached the charger and the phone does not display that it is charging, did I just ruin my phone?

    Thanks for reading
