You will have to try and flash manually via Odin. Can you get phone into download mode (Vol down + Home + Power keys all together)?

I appreciate your fast responses, but yes I have tried that key combo and nothing still. I am beginning to wonder if my battery did not completely crap out on me
during the update. I am thinking about getting a know good battery and trying that, I am growing disapointed that my 500 dollar gift could be a brick. Anything
else comes to mind? Again, thank you for helping me out.

    John

PS, the battery gets pretty warm when attempting to charge it. Never felt warm before...

Yes, could quite possibly be a faulty battery. You could try giving the battery contacts a clean/rub/rough up a bit but otherwise, as you say, try a new one....

This sounds like a problem with the update/flashing.
If you can't get into download mode as per RichH instructions, then you could try a USB jig.
If you are technical you can make your own: http://droidangel.blogspot.co.uk/201...-download.html
    OR
If like me, buy one from Ebay: http://compare.ebay.co.uk/like/22090...var=sbar&cbt=y

Replaced with a new fully charged battery and phone is still acting dead. Guess the jig is my last option before having to send it in

Rich sorry to be a bother, is it possible you can PM me? I tried to pm you but get an error, may be because I am a newbie with low posts.

    Thank you

Sorry I cannot PM you back, but this was my message to you:

The jig did not work. I was hoping it would and was going to ask you to help walk me thru the reloading process when the phone was booted into the
update mode. When the jig is inserted the phone still is dead as a door nail, tried the power on key, the factory reset key combo, still nothing.

I am very sad that it seems I have a brick now. Looks like I may have to hunt down my friend who bought this for me and
try and see if there is a warranty.

Any possible other ideas to unbrick this thing without sending it in?
