Camera crashes & is there a shortcut

Regularly when using the camera, it crashes and goes back to the home screen. Is this normal?

Also, its tedious searching for the camera app each time - is there a shortcut?

Can't help with the crashing but to place a shortcut on the home screen you do it the same way you would put any other app shortcut on the screen.

Crashing is usually the result of shortage of memory, or data not writing to memory quickly enough.
In camera- settings you can change where to save. If you have sd card it may not be fast enough. See if changing to phone helps.
