    Duplicate contacts *Not usual problem*

    Hello everyone,

Apologies if there is already a thread on this, all I seem to fInd is the duplicate contacts in contacts view problem, which is not the problem I have.

Ok, so when I am in the compose message view I start typing a name to send a message to and the phone shows me all numbers for that contact, even if I deleted that number... for example say my contact Lewis upgrades and gets a new number, I edit his contact, deleting the old number and replacing it with the new. Then when I type LEW into the compose message "to" section it shows all numbers ever stored under that name, if you know what I mean..? So i am typing someones name getting multiple numbers even if they only have 1 number to there name.

This also seems to be the case if someone registers a number to FB and I overwrite that number with a new number

    Sorry if this is confusing

    Thanks

I know the problem with contacts and duplicate contacts comes from syncing FB/Twitter accounts. If you don't wish to see certain contacts you can go:

When in Contacts > Menu button > More > Display Option, this will allow you to hide contacts from Sim/Phone/Facebook/Twitter etc.

I would personally just export all my contacts to SD card and then import that to GMail on a PC and organise the contacts one by one, afterwards delete all my contacts on my phone and then sync back contacts to my phone from GMail.

I really dislike having cotnacts from FB on my phone.

The cleanest way to do this is to have your contacts on your phone and then in Settings > Accounts and sync, open each account and de-select sync contacts.
Syncing is great but you have to maintain the source account which is usually on your computer.
For me it's easier to keep my phone contacts separate, then I don't have the problems you're experiencing.

Well, just to add further problems, my contacts have never synced. Just checked last date and it was when phone was purchased, so why is it still showing old numbers that I have deleted!?

Did you save them to your sim card?
There is obviously a duplicate somewhere and if not being synced it's on your phone.
Is it only happening when you send an email? if so then the link is back to your email account contact list.
