Question Root my Galaxy S2 running Android 4

    Hi,
I've just had the latest firmware update on my SG2, the new ICS.
Can anybody tell me how I go about rooting my SGS2? I want to use some apps that's only for a rooted SGS2.
I don't want to change any firmwares or themes or whatever as I'm happy with ICS, just need to root it.
If anybody could supply me with some links for the software and instructions.
    Thanks.

Take a look in Android Development on this forum. At top of Page are stickies for Rooting and De branding.
Rooting won't change any application's or themes on your phone but will give you more control.

A basic question and I should know the answer. I'm setting up my wife's phone and can't remember whether rooting it means she'll no longer be able to use Kies. will she be able to?

Yes you can still use Kies for updating (if you must) or other functions.
There's a better way to root the ICS S2.
    Take a look here:

No triangle problems, or binary counter increase

Thanks for that Greenman. I'm trying to keep everything simple for my wife and the way I operate my multiple computer / phone syncing definitely does not come under that heading
