Question A few questions regarding the Samsung Galaxy S2

Hi guys, new to this forum so no doubt there is a thread more suitable for me to browse through but bear with me!

...I'm thinking of going to get the Samsung Galaxy S2 later today, having been an iPhone user now for 3 years, I fancy the change, the main attraction being flash videos work, web pages appear as they should, and the fact that I can really customise the menus to suit me.

Are there any S2 users on here that can clarify how good the handset is.

Also I got the impression from a mate that the menu scroll can be customised too (the one he showed me was like a sphere, he could roll sideways and up and down to access apps like they were attached to a sphere. Does anybody know what this is called? Is it a theme? Or is it a standard option on the phone?

How does it all work on google? Once I have signed up with a google account do I then literally have an "iTunes" style menu on the google webpage that shows me what apps I have and music etc?

Social media apparently is collated in one menu making it easier to access twitter and facebook feeds? Can anyone give me more info on this?

Finally, and this is a minor thing, but can anyone screengrab an image of the standard sms messaging screen? Is it of a similar style to the iPhone (ie lists of convos with contacts?)

I appreciate any help in advance, I have done a fair bit of looking on the web, but thought this would be a good place to get individuals opinions and thoughts as well as tips on the above!

Hey, I don't have an SGS2 so cannot help you but aren't these questions that can be asked and better explained in store? You would laso get to feel and see the screens you need?

Well these replies will keep the post fresh anyway,

The Msg screen show coverstaion bubbles between the users but some people have issues with the time stamp.

Music wise there is no need to Sync like iTunes, if you have the music on your PC then you can just drag and drop. There are ways to sync Music using Kies and other 3rd Party Apps.

The Social Hub I think would be highly avoided by most users and is reported better to use the seperate apps, wait to see what other people say.

Agree with TT that you are better to 'play' with an S2 in-store to answer your questions.
I will be a little more helpful, however, in pointing you towards he launcher you were looking for.
It's Go launcher and a YouTube here to show how it works:

I also escaped from iphone to SGS and then on to SGSII
I had jailbroken by iphone but the android system is so free that you dont really need to, you can use custom apps to change the way your messages present. Go launcher is brilliant, my screen can go as a sphere, bounce, slide and many other choices. I drag and drop my music and there is a choice of many music apps for different effects. You do have to work to get your phone just as you want it but its fun trying all the different choices until you find what you want. You will never go back to Apple!
