Willowman thanks for that update. It looks promising but again they are not being specific about the UK unbranded handsets. But at least we can look forward to the 30th and they are responding. I was going to root mine but I think I will wait.

I would rather Samsung release near perfect bug free firmware then half ass it and release it quick....maybe they found some bugs in the firmware, and that 02 or 3 network aint too bothered about
The Polish ICS is what you're looking for.
Smooth & quick.
Just tried an update via Kies for ICS for my open market S2. Prompted to allow Kies to carry out a minor update. No ICS yet despite this being the scheduled date for release assuming no more problems
I too tried to update, nothing but a software update for Kies!
Has anyone tried the "Sky Go" application on ICS. Read elsewhere that there are compatibility issues.Runs perfect on Gingerbread.
Seems you're right and have to stick to Gingerbread for the moment:

Hi apetc,
Unfortunately Ice-Cream sandwich is still not supported for the Sky Go service. So I would suggest that you don't upgrade if you want to keep using Sky Go on your device.

There is a workaround for rooted ICS S2's.
But I would just stick to Gingerbread - you're not missing much:

Hi everyone, I got my update to ICS last night via Kies. I'm UK based, on O2.
So far so good, although it did take all the Apps and Widgets off my home screens, and despite a back up immediately prior to the upgrade, it wouldn't restore the old dataSpent about an hour putting the Apps and Widgets back in place......
It also removed all the email accounts from my social hub, which I had to restore. It did leave twitter and facebook in there though...... Not keen on the new layout of the hub (loved it before the upgrade), but guess Ill get used to it.
