Have Samsung confirmed a launch event or press conference? I cant see April being a launch date now. It seems too soon.

I think we will see an official announcement followed by a very quick release.
Base that on pressure to hold off announcment so that American networks can still get value fro their later release of the S2 PLUS, think we are going to see a lot hype and advertising surrounding the S3 and the Olympics![]()

Galaxy S2, and loving it ;-))
I dunno if you guys have seen this http://www.gsmarena.com/quadcore_cpu...-news-3990.php
SamMobile.com reports:
According to the Korean Times, a senior manager of Samsung confirmed that the forthcoming Galaxy S III smartphone will have a quad-core processor. Samsung will put its new Exynos processor in its flagship phone.
The Korean Times claims to have interviewed a senior manager at Samsung who wants to stay anonymous. According to the manager, Samsung has decided to be less dependent of the chipmaker Qualcomm. And Samsung wants to make more phones with their own Exynos proccesor. Samsung would currently rely on Qualcomm when it comes to peak times of smartphone fabrication.
The manager also mentioned that the forthcoming Galaxy S III smartphone from Samsung will have the newly developed Exynos 4412 quadcore processor.
The Exynos 4412, will sport four cores clocked at 1.5GHz to do their work. The cores are baked at 32nm and are therefore much more energy efficient than for example the Nvidia Tegra 3. In addition, the processor will have about 26 percent better performance than its Nvidia competitor. Also, the graphic core performance will be alot better, although the exact figures aren’t yet known.
It is still unclear when the long awaited Samsung smartphone will be announced. Rumors vary between April and May. We think may it is where you could put your money on, because the olympics will be right around the corner, and what better way to promote your Flagship phone when you are the head sponsor of the Olympics and the whole world is watching it.

Samsung Galaxy S III to support wireless charging out of the box?
More rumors on the upcoming Galaxy S III have hit the mill and the latest one suggest that the next Samsung flagship will be using wireless charging, rather than the conventional microUSB charging.
According to DDaily, the back of the device will integrate all the elements needed for wireless charging and you won’t even have to place the smartphone on a charging pad. Rumor has it that it will work even with the Galaxy S III located as far away as two meters from it.
Okay, that last bit is pure science fiction to me and I’ll really have to see it to believe it, but wireless charging is not impossible to implement on a smartphone. It will probably add a millimeter of two to its profile, though, so I suggest you take this whole thing with a pinch of salt.
I guess we’ll find out whenever Samsung are finally ready to reveal the long-awaited Galaxy S III.

According to the Made Up Science Today website, you can flip open the top when you have a ripped shirt and tell Scotty to energise.
It's true.

Samsung Galaxy S III alleged official photo and specs leak
The Samsung Galaxy S III rumors keep coming in and different sources are starting to agree on some key specs. You should still take what the rumors say with a pinch of salt, but these seem slightly more credible than most of the previous ones.
An anonymous tipster told GSM Helpdesk that the Galaxy S III will measure 131 x 64 x 8 mm and weigh 125g (the Galaxy S II is 125.3 x 66.1 x 8.5 mm, 116 g).
The screen will be slightly smaller than previously rumored - 4.7" with 720p resolution - and will use SuperAMOLED Plus HD technology. That's regular RGB matrix in 1280 x 720 pixel resolution.
The camera on the Samsung Galaxy S III is tipped at 12MP with 1080p@60fps video recording. The camera will reportedly also feature slow-mo recording, so the 60fps might be for that mode rather than producing 60fps clips.
As far as CPU goes, the anonymous tipster confirms the quad-core at 1.5GHz, but doesn’t really add anything to what the Samsung exec said a few days ago. The Galaxy S III will have 1GB of RAM (same as current model) and 32GB of built-in storage, according to the tipster.
The connectivity on the S III should see the adoption of dual-carrier HSPA for downlink speeds of up to 42Mbps, but uplink is reportedly still limited to 5.76Mbps. There are other specs mentioned - Wi-Fi a/b/g/n with Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC and HDMI out (likely over MHL). None of those comes as a big surprise, either.
One final tidbit is the launch date - set for May 22, but Samsung might pull it forward to April. Another unrelated source agrees on the date - the Galaxy S III might see its launch in China pulled from May to April.
