Post Why can't I see my emails!!

Help please, I am a 62 yr old Samsung/Android/Gmail virgin!

I opened a Gmail acount as it said I should and have my hotmail address shown as my primary email address. Its there but nothing comes into it and I have to read my emails on the Gmail account. The odd one goes thru to the hotmail account but folks are asking is the Gmail my new address. Also I cannot read my emails on the PC in my hotmail account, I have to go to Gmail.

Please can someone tell me what I have done wrong before I need a straight jacket.

    Many thanks in anticipation

Did you use your hotmail account as your gmail account during the set up? If you did this is probably the reason.

You need to set up a gmail account under menu>settings>accounts and sync>add account.
To set up your hotmail account, goto the normal email app and set it up in there.

I hope I am replying propery....this is a whole new thing for me.

Thank you Richard for your reply. I went to delete both the accounts on the phone...i.e. Gmail and Hotmail so as to start again but on both it says.

Do you really want to remove this account? Removing it will also delete all of its messages contacts and other data from the phone

I dont know what to do now. Sorry!!!!

Can you please explain what you mean by going to the normal email app to set up Hotmail. I only know the menu>settings>accounts and sync>add account that you mention.

I'm afraid that's normal and is the only way it can be done, Better to start over and get it sorted out now. The other way you could do it, is to do a factory reset, that will put the phone back to how it was out of the.

If you go into applications you will see Email and Gmail, Email is the normal email app where you can set up your Hotmail.

the menu>settings>accounts and sync>add account is where you would set up your Gmail account only.

    Hello Richardj
Thanks so much for your help.. I did a factory reset and still had problems. I suspected I had done something wrong when I set up the Google account (on my PC) so I discovered how to delete the google account in its entirity and it worked. My live.co.uk email account on PC has gone back to normal now.

I factory reset the phone again and I added my hotmail account first from the icon that just says email....now working fine thanks.

Do I have to add a Google account to make everything on this phone work....I will of course have to create a new one, sorry if this is long winded....
MY QUESTION...bet you thought I've never get to this bit) Is....will I have to create the Gmail account on my PC first.

Lastly, sorry, second question are S11's know for having weak Wi-Fi signal...this one keeps droppingsaying not connected..gggrrr yet my husbands iPhone and my old iPod Touch have full signal.

I did switch the Touch's wi-fi off to try and help the S11 to no avail.

Hello again you lovely people on this forum)))))))))))))

I now have my phone working thanks to you. Please may I ask two questions:-

    1) I received a photo today that was 3.2MB and the SII said it was too big but it downloaded fine on my husbands iPhone is that normal?

    2) Also is the SII known to have a weak Wi-Fi signal..............I only get a good connection if I sit right beside the router....if I move away it goes to fair then poor then drops!

Orang shop said they couldnt test it as the signal in their shop is boosted so they would always get a brilliant connection.

Any comments on these two points would be much appreciated.

    Thanks Pat

You need to add a google account so you can use the android market ect. Once added to the phone you can then log in to the account via your PC/laptop using the same username and password.

I had a Galaxy S and that had terrible wifi, very weak, sent it off to samsung for repair on 3 occasions and each time it came back the same. Samsung replaced in the end for the SII.

OK. Sorry to hijack but having similar problems! Does this mean that I should not connect my AOL account to the accounts&sync>add account section? At the mo I have my google AND aol on there.

The way I have mine set up is, Google and samsung accounts are under accounts and sync>add account. My other email address's are set up in the normal email app.
