Can't get rid of this annoying message!!!

Every day I get this message at the top of the screen stating:

"CONTACTS BACKUP" - network connection failed.

When I click it to get rid, it appears again the next day ..... I've been into the Contacts Menu and looked at Import/Export and More/Settings but I don't really know what to cancel or untick.

Can anyone please help?

I'm guessing it's the Google sync (which backs up your Contacts if you allowed it to during initial setup). Maybe your Google account details are duff? Look in the Accounts and Sync menu in Settings...

Thanks for that Professor; switched off "Syncing" and unticked "Background Data" hope that works!

Are you on Orange? My mrs gets a very similar message along with a notification at the top of the screen. She keeps moaning at me to sort it and the one time i tried we had no signal so couldn't set up the Orange Back Up program!

Yes, I'm on an Orange contract and since I went to Accounts and sync and switched off synching for both my accounts I've haven't had the message!
