My Battery i think!!!!!!

Hello i'm new and i'm needing help with my phone i have a battery problem I THINK!!!! my phone won't stay charged for a long time.....

1. i have charged my phone and it will say 100% charged and then i will take it of and it won't even be halfway charged then it drains fast
2. i will cut off my phone and then charge it to 100% and then cut it back on and it will be charged but it won't stay charged for more than 2hrs. cuz two hours later it will prompt me to charge my phone before the battery will die.
I have taken it to tmobile but they arent giving me good advice.
I have turned off wifi
i have ended all running programs in the back
dimmed the lighting in the background
CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME

What percentage is the Android System & Android OS?

First of all, what phone do you have, the s or s2? That might help somebody to help you.

It's possible you have a faulty battery if it's new. I've had that in the past with previous phones though it's not a common problem.

If you read the forums, there are tips on how to improve battery, it may be a simple as a few little tweaks. Two hours is ridiculous though, even if you were constantly playing with it.

What are you doing with your phone during the two hours? Calls, texts, games etc? The more information you can give, the better the help you will get. Also, it will help if you provide your firmware details.

Okay thanks to everyone who just posted, i'm sorry about not giving enough information but i'm new and some of the terms i don't understand but i'm very fast at learning to figure out a soulution so can you explain to me Alison where do i go to get firmware details?

Oh yeah i'm sorry and no i don't play on my phone i just talk on the phone only for about 45 mins at the max then i'm at work and the phone stays on the charger for the whole day. Now i do have incoming email from my hm email and work email but thats it

That's an old firmware. What region are you in?

Don't forget, we need to know which phone you have too. Your region so that somebody will be able to tell you the current firmware. Is the phone locked to a network?

So, we need to know:

Which phone you have
Region
Network locked or unlocked
Firmware (which we now know is 2.2.1)

There may be more we need to know but I can't think offhand, somebody else will know though.

dial *#1234# for your firmware versions.

Use the phone for a bit and then look at your battery use and let us know.

Edit: What model phone is it? i9000, i9003 etc?
