kies 2 not supported by device

My Galaxy s2 2.3.4. Gingerbread used to work fine with kies but am now getting the message that my device does not support Kies

Certainly used to. Dont know that I have altered anything apart from downloading a newer version of Kies to my Laptop

Can anybody shed a light please

I am not sure. But pl try this out. Just go to Settings, then open Applications, then Development and see whether 'USB debugging' is enabled. If it is so, disable it and then try connecting Kies. It should work.
