If you use the GPS facility (or the Navigation Application) on the S2 whilst driving (i.e. away from any WiFi connections) does it eat into your data allowance?
Thanks

Not if you download all the maps for your route in advance. GPS signal does not use data but downloading maps does.

Thanks for that. Being a complete novice when it comes to using this phone how and where do I download the maps from and to. Also when I begin my journey how do I use the Navigation App so it guides me to my destination using these downloaded maps?
Sorry to appear thick.![]()
When you set the routes start and end point google navigation will automatically download the map for that route and store it on your phone so it can be used again. When you want a different route it will download the new route in the same way.
Alternatively you could try NavFree from the market. Download the main app, when it's installed you can then download the maps for the whole of the UK and ROI which are then stored on your phone. You can also download different voices for it. It's best to do all of this over your WiFi connection.
Edit: I forgot to mention you can also download speed camera warnings, and post codes, so you can search for an address by post code.

Thanks Richard. One further point if I may, I understand that you can download these apps onto ones computer rather than initially onto ones phone so how do you get the app off the computer onto the phone? Do you plug the phone into the computer then look for the 'App' folder on the phone then drag and drop it into that?
Thanks
Connect your phone to PC in mass storage mode using the USB cable. And then drag and drop.
None of the apps in the android market can be download to a PC. You can only download them from your phone or you can go here https://market.android.com/ this is the online version of the android market, sign in with your google account details, search for the app you want, then click download and it will be downloaded and installed straight to your phone.
