    Folder Structure

    Hi

Could anyone explain this to me. It does not seem straightforward.

I now understand the puzzle of device storage, sd card storage and external sd card storage. Odd but ok if you know.

    But some specific questions:

Why do attachments I 'save' from emails, go into downloads rather than attachments?

What then will ever appear in the attachments folder?

Why do mp3s that I have added through kies go into the media folder and not the Samsung music folder?

The gallery appears to have recognised all images that I have 'downloaded' from my emails but how can I organise them into folders so that I can choose what I show people?

Don't use Kies to transfer MP3s, use the USB storage mode and bypass Kies altogether.

Photos - I have a folder called photos, in those I have folders like Malta 2006, Wallpapers, Sweden 2005. These folders appear in the Gallery with their folder names. Organise your photos using USB storage mode and a PC.

Downloads folder is for anything you download. No idea about attachments.

No. On the Internal SD and External SD. To change things on the ROM you need Root access.

You can only store music on the internal or external SD.

Yup, on either will do. As a preference I store all my music and video on my external and everything else on internal.

    /sdcard = internal storage
    /sdcard/external_sd/ = External

Go into the directory where you want to create the new folder.

Yep cos you only get a very limited file system with My Files. Try it-Bung a folder on /mnt/sdcard (left menu button). If you dont like it delete it..

You can create folders where ever you want on the phone or sd card, both Gallery and Music will pick up all files.

You can create in both if you want

    my SGS i9000 has /sdcard/ I've never seen /sdcard/usbStorage.

Here is the structure of the i9000:
/ = Root directory (Where all the OS files are kept, you will only have access if your phone is rooted)
    /SDCard = Phone's internal storage (6Gb if you have the 8Gb SGS i9000)
/SDCard/External_SD = Phone's external sd card (if you have one inserted).
