    Contacts view

Hi, I'm a new member and own a SGS II. My issue (problem) is that I can't seem to view my phone contacts, only my SIM contacts. I imported the contacts from my SIM, then tried to transfer to my phone, all this has done is duplicate all my contacts.
The issue started when I noticed that all my contacts were individual, so I wanted to keep one name with; home, mobile, work etc. The pictures only appear on the phone contact too. Please tell me that there is a quick fix and that I don't have to start all over again!
This is also an issue because I can't send texts, there are too many duplicated contacts and I'll probably send the texts to land lines!!
Please help this hapless new smart phone user.....I know this is not a phone fault...it's me!

If you go to Contacts, then press menu button (bottom left on phone), then press more, then display options: this will give the option to choose which groups to display (which may solve your duplicated contacts problem).

If you want to organise your contacts then I would export the cotnacts to SD Card, this will export contacts as a .VCF file. You can then improt the .VCF file in to googlemail using your pc and organise all your cotnacts. Once organised you can then sync them over data or wifi whenever you want.

Thanks for the swift response. My contacts are now displayed only once, but when I try to send a text each person is displayed 15 times....yes 15! Still only showing the SIM contacts. I've copied the contacts to the SD card and tried to add to google, but it wants me to sync to another email account, I'd rather keep the two separate though. This is probably going down the pen and paper road.....

Let me second Tufftoad's good advice.

Forget your sim, forget your phone, store your contacts on your google account.

You will have access to your contacts on your PC (easier to maintain them this way rather than using your phone) and if/when something happens to your phone or you change your phone, your contacts remain safe and will be ready to go once you have setup your account again.
I could be wrong, I usually am. (Because it's only a phone)

I would export all my contacts and go through them one by one. Once done it's done and you can sync back from Google.
