Does anyone know of a better more accurate keyboard

    Hello,

I've had my S2 for over 8 months now and use manual input and swype. Problem I have is that with manually key entry (even though I do not text fast) has a high error rate. I.m not coming to android off the back of years of blackberry use nor do I have fat fingers or any visual imparments...but it is really annoying having to back track for almost EVERY typed word.

    am I alone?

Its also quite amusing to my iphone fanboy friends!

    Please recommend something more accurate.

Swype ia great though but sometimes you just need to type.

Look on the Android market, there are lots of alternative keyboards, swift keyboard is just one. Try them until you find one that you like.
Samsung Galaxy SII GT-I9100. Stock ICS LPT 4.0.4, Rooted with CF-Root. Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1, 16GB, Wi-Fi, Jelly Bean 4.1.1.

Change the speed vs accuracy settings of Swype:
Menu > Settings > Locale & Text > Swype, then scroll down the swype settings menu until you come across the option 'Swype Vs Accuracy'.

Have a play with the settings and see if you can reduce the errors.

You're not alone, but I haven't seen much better. I'm slowly getting better with Swype, which seems to be the best input available. The trick is to check to see that it's inserting the word you intended. It really sucks to find out three sentences later that it made a mistake and you're typing nonsense! I'd say, after two months with the S2, it gets 1 out of 10 words wrong. My previous phone was a TouchPro2 which had a slide out mechanical keyboard, and its accuracy was only slightly better given my fat fingers. All in all I'm pretty happy with the S2. BTW: it helps a lot to hold the phone horizontally when entering emails and other long texts - the larger keys are easier to use.

Finally - I'd kill for cursor arrow keys! I can't accurately cut and paste on the touch screen to save my life!

Are you using the qwerty keyboard, I found that to be prone to errors.. now I use 3/4 keypad with xt9 activated and it's super fast with very few errors.

    Hello gazawee,

I have tried few alternate keyboards in apps market. I find of all the best is SwiftKey X. It has got excellent user's vocabulary build up, highly intuitive and predictive text. No other keyboard can match it's prediction - actually it reads your mind. Amazing ! For people like you, it's a gift. Pl try out first the free version and then go for paid one.

    Yes, another vote for SwiftKey.
My messaging is often down to a one tap for a word.
    SwiftKey's predictions are excellent.
