    First thoughts.

    Processor to slow.
    RAM to Low.
    No Wifi. (Only via dongle)
Only the one USB port. Also only USB 2. USB 3 been out for quite a while now.

    Nice idea though

This thing will be a massive part of computing history. It's the brainchild of David Braben (if you don't know who he is, go and hang your head in shame. Call yourself a geek? pfft!) and I've been following it from the very beginning.

No it won't run windows but the whole idea is to get kids (and geeks) into actual programming rather than learning about office applications and photoshop - I remember the time when the UK lead the world in programming! It is an amazing bit of kit, the first 10 are on ebay already (current bid around £2000 at the time of writing) and I'm certainly going to buy a few when they come out. Maybe use one as a media centre (yes it plays 1080p HD) or a file server or a newsleecher or something, or just to play around with.

THERE IS A VIDEO HERE of a very early unit playing a popular game. I mean, this is a £16 computer!

I stand by my Processor and RAM to low

Also I don't like that game

Building your own in car computer system will be much easier now.

Think Goots has hit the nail on the head because I can see this as having massive potential.
The processor and ram specs are a bit low but its only where the mobile market was a couple of years ago (Samsung Omnia for example) and that was and still is usable. Not that Id want to swap back to it from me Galaxy though :-D

These are now up for sale.
I could be wrong, I usually am. (Because it's only a phone)

Try getting hold of one though

They are only available from two places at the moment, they went on sale at 6am and both websites had crashed by 6:05 :|

I think you can pre-order now, but I'm gonna wait until they are readily available.

The people who make XBMC have also announced that they are making a special RPI version, so it'll be great for a HDMI 1080p tiny and silent media centre
