Smiley symbols

I know how to insert the smiley symbols into a text but can someone tell me how to find which symbol produces which smiley. For example if I see :-) how do I know what smiley that is. I only know it after the text has been sent and then it might be the wrong one!!!

In Messaging, with the cursor in the 'Type to compose' box > menu > Insert smiley.

I get a menu with the Android smiley on the left, then the description, then the text equivalent on the right.

Sad :-(
Winking ;-)
Tongue :-P
Surprised =-O
Kissing :-*
Yelling :O
Cool B-)
Money Mouth :-$
Foot in Mouth :-! (not to be confused with foot and mouth...)
Embarrassed :-[
Angel O:-)
Undecided :-\
Crying :'(
Lips are sealed :-X
Laughing :-D
Confused o_O

Thanks, but where is this 'Type to compose' box? Mine says 'Tap to enter mesage' and then I get an input box.

When you have started to create a message, tap on the menu key(bottom left soft key) and select insert smiley
