    Memory question from a newbie....

I just switched over from the iPhone 4 to the Galaxy S2 LTE so I am still completely unsure what anything is at this point. My questions is about the available memory display in the task manager. Mine shows how much memory is used on the 32gb Micro SD card. It also shows how much of the phone's built in 16gb memory is taken up by various other things like apps which all makes sense to me. Where I am getting confused is there is also a graph showing how much of the "USB memory" is being used however, not only do I not have a USB drive currently connected to the phone but to my knowledge a USB drive has never been connected. Am I missing something? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

    Cheers,
    Dean

Thanks for the reply but if that's the case then why does it show me 2 different bar graphs complete with not on;y different storage capacities but total used space for the same memory card?

Can you post a screen shot so we can see? Might make it easier to work it out.

A screen shot would help as I don't have a task manager like that (I don't think anyway).

This is what I have on my SGS using Titanium Backup:

    System ROM: 198MB (Firmware)
Internal: 1.98GB (For Apps and data)
SD Card (USB): 6.19GB (For stuff I mite like)
Ext. SD Card: 15.9GB (As Above)

The Storage tab on the Program Monitor widget and Menu -> Storage both show 3 separate areas. USB storage is the internal memory which is free for storing your own files/music/photos/apps etc. You also have "system storage" or "device memory" which is 2GB of supplied storage which is reserved for system use, and if you have an external card fitted that is the "SD card".

Thanks, that makes a little more sense. I was in the process of trying to attach a photo as I do not know how to take a screen shot yet however I am currently in a remote area of Northern Canada and do not have the best internet connection. Thanks for clearing that up for me though....obviously each phone really varies from region to region.

To take a screenshot press the home button and the power button at the same time (you may want to "hold" the home button then press power with in a few seconds) There is a full guide here if your still struggling :-)
