    Help needed please.

Hi everyone, I'm hoping you can give me some help with my phone.

I've got a Galaxy S that I've had for a while now and I have never been happy with it its a great phone but mine has always been laggy and I've not been able to do anything to sort it.

I have only ever managed to root it once, and get it to connect to kies once in the whole time I've had it.

Last time I managed to connect to kies it updated from 2.1 to 2.2. Now the firmware and software on it are really old I need to upgrade to the lastest version but I have spent hours and hours trying to get it to connect to Kies but just can't for some reason.

So I need your help to either get my phone to connect to kies or to update to a newer software some otherway?

Any help would be great thanks.

Some info about what I'm working with:
Got the latest version of KIES installed on my laptop with Win7 32bit.

    My phones *#1234# details:
    PDA: I9000XXJPU
    PHONE: I9000XXJPU
    CSC: I9000OXAJPU
    BUILD INFO: 2010.12

Thanks, let me know if you need anymore info

I think I have managed it with odin and sammobile.

    I'm now on:
    PDA I9000NEJVK
    PHONE I9000NEJVB
    CSC I9000H3GJV7

so I am now on 2.3.5 with my Network 3's branding.

It seemed simple enough, does doing custom ones work the same way?

You will need to read the installation instructions for the particular custom rom that you are interested in and flash away...easy peasy!

Hi DEViANCE, have you rooted your phone? have you applied a lag fix? it looks like were at the same state of play as each other.

It's the PDA NEJVK. I've just had a quick look and can't see one for that. Go to the link in post #6 and ask if there is root available for your particular firmware.

    Just a quick update.

I installed a newer standard firmware now and it is unbranded aswell and the phones battery life has gone alot better and alot less lag.

I also installed a stock+ kernel so I am now rooted too.

Very pleased. I havent looked at custom roms yet but I'll have a look around and weigh up the pros and cons as I am happy with what I have atm.

    PHONE: I9000NEJVB
    CSC: Unknown

    Version 2.3.6

I wont have any issues without the CSC will I?

    Cheers
