    Samsung Account Problem

    Hi There..

Am New to the Samsung Galaxy S2 which i have had for just under a month and loving it.

Recently i accidentally tried to remove the Samsung Account from it and now it will not sync. I try and add another Samsung Account and it says There is a Samsung ACcount already there. The Sync icon is Grey and cannot sync as i mentioned.

I think when i tried deleting it was told that it would delete the data so i said yes then it said that This account is required buy some applications and can only remove my resetting the machine to factory settings which i do not want to as i have it the way i want.

I can go into the Samsung apps and download things there as i think i am signed in there. The reason i wanted to sync is that i have Android 2.3.4 and wanted to get 2.3.5 which when i go to Kies or the update in the About phone it says there is no update available and kies says i have the latest Version

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    Keith

Are you sure it's the Samsung account and not the google account.

The google account can only be removed by doing a data factory reset, you then set it up again when the phone re-starts.

As for the firmware update, this depends on whether the phone is network branded, if it is then you will have to wait till your network provider release there version. If the phone is an unbranded phone then you should be able to update it.

So we can help a bit more type this into the phones dial pad:
Tap on the phone icon and enter *#1234# write down what you see on the display and post it here.

What exactly do you mean by Samsung Account & tried to delete it.

If you've registered your SGSII or I with Samsung on their website then you can use that account to check for OTA updates. As far as I know it is not possible to delete that Samsung account so am not sure what account you've deleted (unless you F. Reset).

I'm also sure the Samsung account does not appear in the Accounts & Sync Menu either.

    Thanks for the reply guys,

I attached a couple of screenshots , 1 is the Accounts and Sync on my phone and it is the Samsung Account i was asking about. 2. Message to try and remove it.

    I did *#1234# and got this :

    PDA:I9100XWKI1
    PHONE: I9100XXKI1
    CSC: I9100XEUKH2
BUILD INFO: WED SEP 14 20:34:11 KST 2011

My phone is the Galaxy S2 and branded to orange but don't know if they have the update yet.

I am pretty sure i registered with Samsung and have an email address as username and password for there site.

Because your phone is Orange branded your best bet is to talk to Orange and ask them about the firmware update.

I have a Samsung account but it doesn't show up in accounts and sync. It looks to me as though your only option is to factory reset the phone and start with a clean phone.

Thanks for the quick reply Richard.

Will have a talk to Orange about the update and see, Might do a Factory Reset but the phone it working great at the moment and don't want to disturb that, the only reason i wanted the Samsung account synced was the update but it is not that urgent, will wait.

    Thanks for the help.

Can't you remove it by tapping the account then 'remove account'? That might give you the opportunity to re-login.
I don't think you will get the update from Samsung as you only get the updates when the network approves the release, unless you are rooted.
Try reinstalling Kies. Orange updated to 2.3.5 in November...

Having a rooted phone has nothing to do with firmware updates. A rooted phone gives you super user privileges, which means you can get right into the file system of the phone. It also allows you to install apps that need root, such as Titanium Back and Root Explorer. It also means you can flash a custom rom, but most custom roms now come with root pr-installed.
If you have a network branded phone you have to wait for the network to add in there apps, boot screen and other rubbish, test it, and only when they are happy with it will they push the update out.
If you have an unbranded phone you get firmware updates straight from Samsung.

So we agree then, as that is what I said (maybe not as eloquently)....His OP said he had owned the phone for 1 month and nothing about rooting or debranding so was safely assuming it was still networked.
Hope a solution is found for the guy soon...
