2.3.5 update confusion.

I've just checked with Vodafone (my mobile phone carrier) and they confirmed that they released 2.3.5 on 5/12/11 however when I connect my Galaxy S2 to Kies it tells me that I have the latest firmware installed which according to my phone is 2.3.4.

I'm slightly confused by this so I'd be grateful if anyone could offer an explanation as to why I can't update (if I want to) to 2.3.5.

Have you tried checking for the update by using the OTA feature

Thanks to you both. I did look at that route and it seems I need a Samsung account. Again slightly confused as to how you get one and why? Also being overly cautious about updating my phone as it seems to be working fine are there any bugs in 2.3.5?

Go here http://www.samsung.com/uk/#mobile-devices-home. Register your phone, create an account, the email address and password you use will also be used on your phone. This is separate to your google account.

It depends on how big the file is. The best way would be to connect to your wifi rather than over your data connection. When the update starts don't touch the phone at all, just let it do it's thing until it's finished.

Update from Samsung regarding being able to update from 2.3.4 to 2.3.5 it appears that "that there currently is no official release date for this firmware version for your particular handset." My particular handset is the Samsung Galaxy S2 however Vodafone has told me that 2.3.5 was released on 5/12/11.

Even more confused now.

There's guy's on here that have updated to 2.3.5 on the SII. I don't have the SII, I have the S1 and that has official 2.3.5.

Perhaps a case of Samsung not quite knowing what the right hand is doing from the left hand!!!!! It seems then that 2.3.5 is available to download but nobody has told Samsung.
