Smart TV Android Box---- Great Gadget

Trawling the internet and being an Avid Android fan i came across Maplins and Found this:

So read a few things about it and off in the car i go lol

Last one in the shop , so quickly grabbed it up and off home.

Plugged it in , Android TV hmmm i'm liking this , Running on Android 2.2 , i soon managed to get the hang of the Air Controller
Clicked on Market , hmmm where were all the Apps ! only about 20 listed , not good , thinking now whats the point of an Android box without working market.
Email sent to Maplins , Reading the book i managed to find the Manufacturer and went to the website , intrigued i checked for updates , sure enough Android 2.4 update was there , but would it work ?
Maplins reply " Sorry this Android box in not compatible with Android Market"
"what the !"
So now i'm thinking time for it to go back in the box , But first , i may as well try the 2 updates from the manufacturers website see what happens.
Downloaded and installed onto SD card update 1
Arrrrrrrr disaster ! looping boot screen failed firmware update.

Oh well may as well try the actual firmware update nothing to lose , as i would take it back as faulty.
Update firmware 2.
10 minutes later , Full success Android 2.4 , Full Market Access
So let me tell you about this little box of tricks.

Basically any App on the market will work , apart from Direct phone type Apps
youtube a little glitchy , but works perfect from web side.

Yup, saw this on a Maplins catalogue while looking for a digital signal sender. I clicked your link but at work and it wasn't showing anything, don't think it allowed it.

Was £120+ when i looked a few weeks ago. Can't bring myself to spend that money on something I don't need just yet.

What is handy is the media player side of things, so if you don't have an Xbox/PS3 then you can watch films through it. Also the internet access.

It's down to £79.99 which i thought was a bargain , before i updated it , it was a little slow and film playback was blocky , since update its 10x better , Web is not the fastest but works fine. i'll take a look at the link see it was a bad input.

Great news on this box , since i brought it , it's had 2 updates and now ICS is to be released in FEB for it.

BBC Iplayer is it's only downfall , only works on low quality and also the Market does not display all the Apps that my galaxy does.

But after a month of owning it , it is a great little gadget
