    Stealing data app

I was always afraid of something like this, after jailbreaking my iPhone I never used online banking on it, bit paranoid I know, but who knows I'm sure this one is quite overblown, but bit worrying anyway

Smart phones have become small computers. That means they have the same issues as computers. I guess one just has to be careful when installing apps and actually read what it tries to access. But yeah it's a bit uncomfortable.

Honestly, we all need to verify that the app we're wanting to install is legit before installing it. Many times a simple visit to the developers website is enough.

And a simple 5-second pause to consider "Do I need this My Little Pony app, XXX wallpaper slideshow app/fart soundboard?" goes a looooong way.

When it costs me time and money I start to worry more. At the moment I'm more worried what my operator and google are doing with my data.

Well at least they don't do what Apple did: banning users from the iTunes store if they opted out of letting the phone send geolocation info to Apple... Honestly... That made me rofl.

apple are really coming out as a crappy spy company who use your info to try to sell you crap ,surely its some kind of invasion of human rights to be tagged constanly then deined access to itunes or there crappy apps if you refuse to be a sheep and go along with it,
no doubt android do the same to a certain point with records being kept for say the barcode reading app or the app where you can take a pic googleeyes i think it is very cool app by the way,but at leaset you can turn off that part of the phone

i wouldnt get a apple device if steve jobs came down and gave me a blow himself

yeah, it is worrying. what we really need is that each network service on the phone should have its own database of allowed applications, so the first time application x tries to send an sms, for example, the sms service would display a warning saying something like "application x is trying to send an sms. here is the contents ... cancel/allow/always allow ?". maybe you could also set the options when the software is first installed.
