    Unhappy Data Download issue

Hi all, I have a Galaxy S with MIUI installed and very happy with this ROM, thanks to all who have had any input with development. I now have it set up with a speed of 1.3.
My question is this - How much data can this handset down load in each minute.
My reason for asking is that I have recently had a bill for overusing my data allowance of 500mb. I don't use mobile web very much and during the period billed I have only downloaded Google Maps and only used this on one occasion. The Data Roaming switch was not enabled at all.

My own fault you might say but.... when I check the bill it shows typically entry's like this:

    29/11/2011 14:29 MOBILE WEB 1000 GPRS £0.59 £0.59
    29/11/2011 14:29 MOBILE WEB 501 GPRS £0.30 £0.30
    29/11/2011 14:29 MOBILE WEB 1001 GPRS £0.59 £0.59
    29/11/2011 14:29 MOBILE WEB 1000 GPRS £0.59 £0.59
    29/11/2011 14:29 MOBILE WEB 501 GPRS £0.30 £0.30
    29/11/2011 14:29 MOBILE WEB 1000 GPRS £0.59 £0.59
    29/11/2011 14:29 MOBILE WEB 501 GPRS £0.30 £0.30

In the case above my undestanding is that this handset has downloaded 5504MB of data in one minute -- is this right or am I misunderstanding how the charges are worked out.

If I have misundestood could someone help me undestand the way the charges are built up or point me to a link to another site??.

Incidently I have noticed that O2 my Tesco Mobile supplier has had a problem with data charges in 2010, maybe they still have eh!!.

Some expert help needed before I complain to O2 please.

    TIA

I'd just complain. I use the Internet a bit and haven't gone over my limit (1GB last I checked), don't even think I've gone past 500MB.

I use the net, downloading apps, and every thing I have on sync (Although this is managed when it can access).

Most company's charge by the MB (I think, maybe KB)

You certainly haven't used 5504 MB. It would take you hours to do that and the bill would be enormous.

The charges are probably correct - you just need to ask O2/Tesco to explain what those numbers mean so you can interpret them properly.

Thanks for your reply Roger99, if you are sure I haven't used 5504MB would you have a stab at what the volume figures are though. I have already written to O2/Tesco to find out more. By enormous what sort of scale are we talking about - the bill was £128.00 over the limit. As for the time this ranges from 05:45 to 14:30.

Try the app 3G watch dog from the market. It lets you set your allowance and notifies you when you get near to your allowance.

Thanks Richard, I have downloaded 3G Watchdog and Juice Defender to help control things so I am giving them both a try and hopefully get back on track. So far so good with both apps as they definitely do give alot of control over the 3g access and settings. Best of all the warnings on limits. I think a lesson learnt here. Have a great Christmas
