    SGSII restarting itself randomly

    Hello,
Newbie here, great forum have learnt lots although have had trouble posting a new thread with Chrome.

This may be a coincidence but ever since I updated to Android 2.3.5 my phone will randomly re-start itself. It definitely didn't happen before. So for example the screen will be locked, nothing happening with the phone, good battery life, (e.g. overnight) and it will suddenly re-boot. It's doubly annoying because I have a PIN SIM so it's stuck at the PIN screen, without network coverage, until I discover it and log back in. My carrier is O2 (UK) but I don't think they're at fault, it's a 2 year old SIM without any previous problems. Has this happened to anyone else?
    Thanks.

This happened to me after the latest update via keys..the next time it does it,don't input your sim lock code, pull out the battery and leave out for about 30 seconds.
Mine hasn't rebooted since I did this

Did you complete a factory reset after upgrading the firmware?

Or wipe the cache in recovery could help.

Well I followed Cunners' suggestion and so far so good. I wouldn't be happy if I had to a factory reset after each software upgrade. I did a reset soon after I got the phone, having backed up the apps, and then couldn't retrieve them so had to manually reinstall them all. I'll see how it goes.

It's always advisable to do a wipe data/factory reset after any firmware update. Doing so will prevent any conflicts between the old OS and the new OS.

Well, still no luck. Taking the battery out, clearing the cache, doing a factory reset - all have failed to solve the problem. And my Kies backup failed to work so I've had to start from scratch following the rest. Joy. Seriously tempted to return to a 'dumb' phone. In the meantime I've got rid of the PIN from the SIM so at least it restarts itself and receives a signal. Will phone O2 next week and suggest I have a faulty phone.
