Not really needed...there are no virus' out there...just spyware bundled into apps - thisis only a problem if you use cracked apps

I wouldnt bother killing your battery for an un-needed peace of mind

As DSA suggests, not strictly needed.

If you want peace of mind try AVG free which is unintrusive and stable.

I try not to touch Symantec stuff as I've seen Norton slow down PCs to a crawl.

I have no experience with Norton for Android.

I used Lookout then moved to webroot, there's plenty of malware out there, some make it to the Market. Juniper stated that malware attacks rose 472 percent since July - just because you visit legit sites and only download apps with 10,000 reviews doesn't make you immune. Google "DroidDream", or perhaps you prefer the trojan that records your calls and posts them to a web server?

So it may knock some time off your battery life, use a charger more often or carry a spare battery if you aren't near a mains supply.

Or do as Linux intended and take more control, even more so if your on HTC

A good idea would be to install a security app that lets you decide what permissions an app can have

I just switched from Lookout to AVG and it doesn't put a little icon on the notification bar like Lookout did. Is it running? Anyone else who has AVG I would appreciate your help!!! I don't need a little icon but I thought there would be one???
