Can anyone tell me if it does any harm to leave the phone on charge overnight?
Ive had my Galaxy S for 18 months now and it doesnt seem to have done mine any harm. Think ive lost a little bit of battery capacity though I think you get that anyway when they're in constant use every day (if you actually sat and thought about how much you used it, you'd be amazed).
One thing I have used is a little program called Llama, which I understand is a basic 'automater' - you can teach it the locations you visit the most, such as work, home, friends etc and set it to configure itself to suit the place and time. For instance, I set mine to turn all data and gps services off after 10pm and to put itself into silent mode apart from calls between midnight and 7am. Does a good job of saving your battery when you dont need to use your phones power hungry options.
From what I understand, the "old style" mobile phone batteries if you kept charging them unnecessarily, they supposedly become useless pretty quick!! In the early days of Nokia / Motorola oldish mobiles I think they both must of made a mint on replacement batteries!! lol
I am older enough to remember (eek) the first phone I had with a Li-ion battery, was a Sony X10 something or the other lol
With a Li-ion battery (as far as I am aware anyway) you are fine to charge as and when without any real impact on the battery.. I guess I am just old school as I still tend to wait to battery is quite discharged before recharging, but I don't think it really matters that much, so I cant see it being a problem charging overnight at all, I think most people do anyway.
