extending length of time phone rings

My friend has an SGS2 on Virgin Mobile and he wants to extend the length of time the phone rings before going to voicemail as he often misses calls. I can't see any settings on the handset and from what I can gather it looks like it to do with the carrier, in this case Virgin Mobile? ... http://www.samsunggalaxysforum.com/s...nger-ringtone/

I also found this info... "There's a really quick and easy way to extend the amount of time your phone
rings for before voicemail kicks in. The most you can extend it to is 30 seconds. All you need to do is follow these
steps:

- Tap *#67# into your phone, then press the call/answer key.

- Make a note of the number that's displayed, including the + symbol.

- Enter the following code:

**61*the number you noted down from above**30#

Here's an example of how the sequence of numbers might look:

**61*+44717941123456**30#

This will mean that your phone rings for 30 seconds. You can alter this to
ring for 5, 10, 15, 20 or 25 seconds by replacing **30# with your choice of
seconds. E.g. enter **15# if you want it to ring for 15 seconds.

- Press the call or answer key - your phone will do the rest!"

Has anyone here ever tried changing these settings?

There's also a way to change the sound of the ring (not ringtone but what people hear when they call you). Came across it when reading call lengths, will post if I find again. Good post.

I'd be interested in this.. I know Orange do/did ringtags or something like that.. Where your caller could hear music played when they ring, pretty cool but not worth £1 a month

I did that way,way back in another Symbian life and yes it worked then.

As you say, the ring tone duration is set by the provider so another way might be to just phone them up and ask them to adjust it. With Vodafone 30 secs is the longest you can have.

If you have a Tesco Mobile contract it's:

**61*905*11*30# call button

where 30 is the number of seconds - (I tried 40 but it stays at 30 ) and the call button is the call button

Finding info for Talkmobile is tricky, but as they use the Vodafone network this may help:

How do I change how long my phone rings before the call goes to Voicemail?
You can set your ring time to 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 or 30 seconds.
Tap **61*121*11* into your phone as if you're making a call.
Next enter a time between 5 and 30 (the number of seconds in multiples of 5)
Press # and then the call button. Don't put the phone to your ear - just look at the display until you see a message confirming your ring time has been set.
For example, **61*121*11*25# followed by the call button would set your ring time to 25 seconds.
This will only work if your mobile phone's on the Vodafone network and you have voicemail set up. To check if you do, tap in 121 and press the call button. If you don't have Voicemail, you'll hear a message asking if you want it to be connected.

T Mobile say that the settings are standard on their network and you need to contact Customer services to change them:
From T-mobile:
PROBLEM
The phone only rings for a few seconds before the call is diverted to voicemail.

SOLUTION
This setting can only be changed by T-Mobile customer services. Contact our team by calling 150 from your T-Mobile phone, or call 0845 412 5000 from any UK landline (open Mon-Fri 8am-10pm, weekends 8am-8pm). If you're abroad please dial +44 7953 966 150.

Hi all
Had an email from Talkmobile who advised me to type in
*004*121*11*30# and then press call button
this worked and my ring now lasts for 30 secs !
Result!
