My Galaxy S ll GT-I9100 thinks it is in Spain!!! Does it matter?

    Hello:

I purchased my SGS ll GT-i9100 from Amazon Canada (amazon.ca) but when I started it, the language was Spanish. I changed it to English but when I start the default bowser, it opens at: http://movil.yoigo.es/ which is in Spain.

Also, on startup, right after the Samsung Galaxy S ll GT-I9100, I get a very colorful 'YOIGO' screen.

Do I need to do something so that the phone will 'know' that I am in Montreal, Canada, Quebec, North America?

Thanks for any advice on this.

    Rob.

Hello RobertThompson, welcome to the forum.

Dial *#1234# and it should come up with a few lines, these tell you what software is running on your phone. Report back your findings and we'll try to help.

XWKF3 is european firmware hence the spanish bit happening. If you are based in Canada and this is where, the majority of the time, you will be using the phone then you should really flash US/Canada firmware.

I would go to SamMobile.com and towards the bottom is 'Samsung US' > Android > select your network > then it should list the firmware for the Samsung US phones.

At work at mo and have to get back. Will add more if I have time but this where you should start.

I would send the phone back. You should not have to do anything to make it work.
