Please Help! Echo problem after adjust Sidetone in Service Mode

    Hi all,

I had problem with low volume during the call so I followed the suggestion in the forum below

    http://www.samsunggalaxysforum.com/s...)-very-low-!!/

There are suggestions to adjust the "sidetone" value. Once I did that, I have been hearing the echo throughout my calls (not happen in speaker or headset mode, though). Now I am very frustrated. If anyone come across the solution for this issue, please kindly help me out. Thanks

Well... I ended up doing the hard reset *2767*3855# and the problem was gone... had to reinstall everything from scratch, though.

    Echo on Galaxy S2 handset

Are there any other solutions to this other than hard reset and full reinstall?

this is the result of adjusting sidetone having followed online instructions.

The only option I could think of would be to change back the values that you adjusted in order to solve your sound problem. Whenever I give out a service/dial command I always prompt people to remember what values they are changing, so should other people.

A hard reset may be the only option.

    Hi,
new to the forum but I fixed the issue of the echo on my S2 by putting a small square of fabric (fixed with cellotape) over the small hole next to the headphone jack (I only encountered the echo when I had a cover on the phone) - this worked but I tried numerous other fixes that worked for other people but not me. Sorry - not the most elegant solution but worked for me.

My problem is that I have moved to ICS 4.0.3 and am now encountering a problem whereby when I am on a call and the phone is in my right hand on my right ear the other caller can hear me perfectly , however, when I transfer the phone to my left hand and left ear (being careful not to touch any buttons or obscure any openings/holes on the phone) the caller complains of either complete or partial volume loss - I can hear them but they can't hear me. When I transfer the phone back to my right hand normal service resumes! Can anyone shed some light on this (I just hope I'm not doing something incredibly stupid!).

    Cheers, Clappy.

I suspect, maybe, that your small piece of fabric over the external mic is somehow effecting the noise cancellation function when on a call. (The phone uses the top mic to control external noise). Try turning noise cancellation off when in a call to see if this theory has any grounds.....
