    A Couple of Annoying Issues.....HELP!!

    Hi guys,

Recently ( a week ago) bought the new S2 and am reasonably happy with it. Have come from a "brick" type Nokia so I know it is a big leap forward. I am not a techno geek but have a reasonable understanding how things work.

    Here are my issues.
    1. Email. I have tried to sync my Virgin email to the phone. The emails appear for a second or two and then disappear!! Does Virgin support the phone's email system.

    2. The calender. I used this a LOT on my old phone, as like a reminder for all sorts. It would vibrate and make a pre determined noise when I needed to be aware of something. The calender on this phone does neither of these things!! I have gone into settings and set the vibrate and notification ringtone etc but nothing..... I am wandering if the two are related somewhere....

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    Shaun

Set up your email as a priority imap account (you might have to delete the one you have set up already and start again). If you use Google calendar you can set reminders etc and it will sync between your pc and phone automatically through your google account....

Have you set the ringtone and vibrate within the calendar app itself? And checked that you haven't selected "set alerts and notifications" to be Off?

Thanks for the replies. I have reset the phone and created my googlemail account.
All notifications are switched on. When i start to put an event on the calender it says something about
Samsung kies. It is really starting to annoy me. I think i have synced the googlemail account but am not sure. Please help!

Samsung Kies is the companion software for the Samsung Galaxy S. Used to backup contacts music etc......supposed to but not the best.

Edit: Moving from iPhone don't expect things to be trimmed and proper with the Samsung, just a heads up. Minor compared to what you can do over the iPhone.

I had the same problem with virgin emails I have been told it's to do with virgin. Set G mail account then go to your virgin settings then forward to your G mail
works ok for me now and the emails still go through to home PC. This is the only way I could get virgin on my phone.

Virgin mail - its based on gmail so important to go to settings in virgin mail over web - go to POP/Forwarding, usual setting is to 'archive' (remove from inbox) when read for pop 3. Change this to 'do nothing' and will remain in Inbox. better still is to reset up account on phone AND PC as IMAP - then phone and PC will look the same... (also much better for managing your emails)

What calendars are synching? Open the calendar app, press the left soft key, then Settings, then touch Calendars at the top. This brings up a list of all your Gmail accounts and the inbuilt phone calendar (My Calendar). If you untick My Calendar and just synch to a Gmail account, you don't need to back up your calendar via Kies, as it will automatically synch with Gmail.
