    aren't they supposed to be scratch resistant ?

    Only certain kinds of toothpaste like the ones that repair the enamel on your teeth. Honestly I wouldn't give it a try a myself unless I wanted the screen cleaned and no phone can be that bad that a damp cloth and fairy liquid can't sort. Unless you know what the toothpaste contains then I wouldn't do it.

    At worse sell your phone to mobileexchange or a similar site and then spend another £50 to get another SGS.

    Scratch resistant and scratch proof are 2 different things.
