iv got exactly the same problem, tried to charge the battry for 3 hours & then try to restart the phone in recovery mode, but it didnt work on the screen there is a mobile phone icon, a yellow triangle & a pc icon that comes on for a few minutes when the phone is getting charged, iv connected it via keys again but the update wont go through and comes up as an error, im on virgin mobile network & spoken to the customer services, they are sending me a parcel pack to send it back to them & have been told that i should hav the phone back in 5 working days but no guarantee of the data being recovered, i did infact choose the option to backup data on the server jst before i started the firmware update, but my luck .... , 1 more thing i would like to mention is the phone was getting extremely hot while charging around the camera lens area. If any 1 comes up with a solution .... plz update regarding what i should do abt my files if they were lost as im assuming the repair centre is gonna do a factory reset after/before the firmware update.

    Regards
    SyH

Hi. Browsing through hoping to find an answer to my problem, found you. Sorry to read about your probs. mine now fade into insignificance. But here goes. I did a firmware update and since then when I try to open a second window, I get a screen come up saying "You have reached your limit you must close a window before you open another". This never happened before the upgrade. Am I doing something wrong, do I have to alter settings? Has anyone got the answer to this one. Thanks in anticipation. Jeff

If this is an ICS update from Gingerbread, then may be another one of those anomalies that occur if you didn't carry out a factory reset and clear cache following the upgrade.
    See RichH post here:
    http://samsunggalaxysforums.com/show...ret-to-success.....!

EDIT: You could also try using Chrome Beta as it works very well with ICS (although takes a little getting used to)
Have a look on Play Store (Market) or go here:

As for updating I have always updated the phone manually using Odin, you should give it ago if you don't trust Kies.
And make sure you have a fully charged battery before starting!

For some reason the stock browser open all 7 pages as blank pages when you first run it from a fresh install. You need to go to the top right of the screen and click the two overlying rectangles. This will open up all the open pages with a minus sign in red at the top right. Click these to close pages one by one.

Im having a problem too, though mine was my own fault and I know it. I had followed a tutorial on how to root my phone, but did not notice it was for a different model (I know, silly) and now have a screen that reads "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again." However, Kies cant seem to find my device. My question is, is there a way I can manually recover the firmware and if so, how? I have already tried a battery pull and the devices recovery mode, both did not work, obviously.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You will have to flash manually with Odin (many guides on internet/youtube etc)...
SGS 3 i9300 SIM Free O2 UK. Stock.
SGS 3 i9305 SIM Free Dev Tool. Galaxy Project ROM.
