    Data network mode not working? Is ther ea wiget to toggle this on and off?

    Hello,

    I've just got this samsung phone so having to ask alot of questions.

    Am I right in thinking that the Data Network Mode access your data plan usage? Ie 500mb?

    When I activate this, it doesn't seem to allow me to connect to the net? Anyone why?

    Also is there a widget that allows me toggle this off and on?

    Doesn't it seem weird that Samsung hasn't give us a indicator like the wifi that this data network mode is ON? I could leave it on running without even knowing?

    Is there a good app which lets me see how much data I am using?

    Have a look at Call Meter NG or 3G watchdog, also data monitor widget is a good one to put on the homescreen. There are many toggle widgets, I use Switchpro widget but there are free ones as well.

    On most custom roms you will find data toggle right there in the pull down notification area next to the wifi toggle. Also it can be made to go on the power menu (hold power button), these are also mods you can do if you root the phone. Just something to think about.

    If you're having troubles with the data network then you should really contact your provider.

    If you go to Menu > Settings > Wireless & Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names. What settings do you see or what option?

    Hi Thank You for the reply.

    @Tufftoad I get "Contract WAP" with wap.vodafone.co.uk under it.

    When I click on that I can see the edit access point with settings filled in.

    When I got the phone it seems to work ok as far as I know. Yesterday my nu,ber was changed as I requested my old number be transferred over. Form yesterday I cannot access the data network settings.

    Also is there a way I can check how many call mins and data I've used so far? In on app/widget if possible?

    Think that's where the problem is, you have no internet settings. I've found the following so you can enter your apn settings.

    The settings for connecting to the Internet APN are:

    APN Name: "Your choice"
    APN: Internet
    Username: web
    Password: web

    The settings for connecting to the WAP APN are:

    APN Name: "Your choice"
    APN: wap.vodafone.co.uk
    Username: wap
    Password: wap

    You can often get your carrier to text you the settings but I had to manually set up giffgaff apn on my phone.

    I've solved this now. Turns out because my old number was being transferred to my number phone. All my settings was registered with my original number. Since my number was transferred over recently the settings were not. Had to ring Vodafone who sent me a text with the settings for me to reconfigure.

    Also how do I see how much data allowance I am using? how many mins I've used and how many text I've sent? WITHOUT apps? Which from what I've read are not accuate with counting mins and data allowance.

    Is there a number I can call? Or somewhere I can keep track of it?

    I know 44555 gives you a text of the number of mins left but doesn't included data allowance but this only shows the last 72 hours.
